Locker options

Im intersted in a switchable rear locker most likely electric im woundering how hard it is to do the install thanks for any help also does anyone have any experance with any electric ones thanks

I think the only selectable rear is a cable operated OX for the 8.8 axle. Install for the electrics isn't difficult. You will have to drill a hole in differential or cover for the wires, run lines to the battery or distributor, and run a switch into the cab.

how much improvment was the front locker for off roading the other day i was in some slick mud only about 6 inches deep and i almost got stuck i was thinking my rear wasnt locking up but mercedes made a great point about no weight in the rear is the auburn Ected an electric locker and streetable?

ected seems streetable, brothers 89 ranger has one up front. very minimal complaints from him.

my brothers only complaint with the ected is it seems to be rather tight after going from locked to LS. like things are still kinda bound up

crank the wheel from left to right a few times at low speed. Sometimes it doesnt disengage all the way.

reverse wont necessarily do it then? i'll tell him to try that the next time he's out playing.

nope. If the turning from side to side doesnt work, then get out into a more open area and turn the wheel to the left (not full lock) and do about a half turn. Repeat with the other side if that doesnt work. All you have to do is make the wheels spin different speeds. The locker is disengaged, you just have to "convince" it that its needs to do limited slip duty.

depends on the unit. i think the ected you can be moving as fast as 10 mph, but i slow to a crawl when i engage. I think you can disengage at any speed. you want to be careful because a dynamic engagment can cause a shock to the system.
