lockers

I was wondering if anyone has installed a front and rear locker on there 04-07 f150, and what is a good one to go with. I don't want a full time one as I use my truck as a daily driver. I know the Jeep Rubicon has some that lock when you flip the switch this is something that I am interested in

Ya, there are guys running lockers on this site, but just so you know, your in the "comment and suggestion" section, generally saved for comments and suggestions *for the site itself*. You will have much better luck posting in the "Other Powertrain" section, or even the off-road section.

tnsilvfx4 I believe is the name, is running a front selectable locker.

Check out Eaton Selectable (electric)

Auburn ECTED (electric)

ARB (air operated)

Or OX Lockers (cable operated)

You also need to post in the correct section.

My factory LS was fine at the time of install. When the clutches go I'll install the detroit. I can get a good deal on install for the locker so im not worried about it. At the time, I couldnt afford the extra $$ for a detroit and install.

You will be streetable with a selectable up front. Just leave it off until you need it.

btw, i think the only rear locker options are an OX if you have an 8.8 rear, and the detroit for either 8.8 or 9.75

Also, a locker up front has more benefits when off-road. With a truck, we have NO weight sitting over our rear axle, but sure do have a ton up front. More weight up front = more traction. Adding the "traction aid" up front can really help you pull through some nasty stuff. Just my opinion.

driving 60 miles a day ?? Damn buddy, I'd suggest looking into a little ricer or something. Maybe a bike. Save some gas + cash. I drive 70+ miles a day for work, and would no way want my truck to be a daily driver. Buy yourself a little foreign job with great MPG's .... then beef up that truck ! Or go with selectables. More expensive, but you won't need to drive around "locked up" all the time.

i've got probably a stupid question but i just want to check with you guys,

If I were to purchase a detroit locker, would i have to also pay to have the clutch packs replaced too. I know my clutch packs are turning to crap, and if I could just pay for a locker and then pay for install, that would be fine with me.

would the clutch packs have to be messed with if i bought a locker?

thanks,
John

the LS carrier with the clutch packs gets replaced via the detroit locker.
