Rear end leak

Hello,

I have noticed some drips under the rear of my 01 Scab. Looking closer fluid appears to be leaking from the front of the differential where the drive shaft connects. Is this something I can fix myself without too much trouble? If not, how much am I looking at spending to get it sealed up again? Thanks.

had the same problem with my '98. Pretty sure its the pinion seal. I had my truck regeared which replaced all seals anyways. But, I was lookin in to doin it myself, (before I decided to just regear), and was readin up on the procedure in the Chilton repair manual. Didnt seem all too complicated, but from what I can remember, there was a special tool required(Seal remover and seal inserter), and when placing the new seal in, you hafta be real careful not to crush it. So idk. hope that helps A LITTLE BIT...
