Squeak from the rear?

Only when I am backing up at a slow speed is there a squeak coming from the middle of the truck to the back. I am thinking u-joint but it does not do it while going forward at the same speed. Any other ideas?

u joint.

i had the same thing on my 02, and i thought the same thing, y does it only do it in reverse? im sure if you could get the shaft spinning at 75mph in reverse for a couple of hours it wouldnt do it.

you probably have the factory sealed u joints. put a couple of lubable ones on there and ur good to go (as long as u lube em).

i might suggest getting the shaft balanced too while you at it. the squeaking is actually the joint seizing and releasing.
