Adding LSD

I have a 8.8 with 3.55 gears and no limited slip. Could i put the LSD in with out tearing apart my rear end? Or would i have to change the gears to?

i think the LSD carrier is different so you'd have to reset your backlash (the easy part!)

That is correct you have to change out the entire carrier to add LS.
Another option is to have a lock-right or Detroit tru-trac installed, they are both lockers instead of LS but they provide the same if not better traction and they can be installed in an open diff without changing out the carrier.

i ran the richmond gear power-traxx. that whole lunchbox locker design is a pos imho

my tired 4.6 with 180k at the time ruined one of those in the rear. warped the damn thing.

my 2c on diffs is go with a real diff not a add-in-open carrier
