4x4 Dash Light

Hello, I am having a problem with my '99 F150 4x4 5.4 manual transfer case. The dash light for 4x4 will not go out when you shift into 2WD. I crawled underneath it and the vaccum pulls the differential lever in (right towards the dash pot) I believe the soleniods to be energized and I think the switch on the transfer case (that gives the position of the transfer case) to be stuck in the 4x4 position. Has anyone dealt with this? Is the switch the culprit? It seems to have the axle engaged when it is in 4WD. Which switch is it? Thanks for your insight.... Joe

I use to have the same problem. It would not disengage and tooka few clicks and flashes to engage. Well now, it does nothing. No lights, no clicks, and no one can say for sure what the problem is. Only way is to throw money at it I guess. Cant find a single thing on trouble shooting it either

Just to let you know, especailly if anyone else has problems with the 4x4 engaging and disengaging. I did replace the switch that is on the front of the transfer case and indeed that was the problem. It works perfect. If anyone needs the number of the part let me know. Joe
