open and LS, same gears?

I have a buddy with a mustang and he has a set of ford racing 4:10 ring and pinion. He has a 8.8 rear end but his is open and I have a limited slip. Are the gears the same? I can get them for next to nothing and then all I need is a set of reverse cut for the front. Any info would be great, thanks.

Right on! I'll get new bearings and seals while i'm at it and get my buddy who owns a tranny shop to do the work, that's great i've been wanting to do gears since I bought the truck 5 years ago!!!
