Unhappy Drive shaft out of balance

Anyone heard of this? Purchased a 2000 Ford F150 flareside, has a stutter when you brake, normal pulling to a red light braking, not stopping fast. Thought it was brake problem, $400's later new pads, rotors, rear drums turned...still stutters. Firestone checked over everything again can't find anything wrong with brakes, suspension, bearings ect. Ford people seem to think drive shaft is out of balance. Anyone heard or know or had this problem?

If you have a 4X4 it could be a bad wheel hub bearing going out.

Seems to me that if a driveshaft were out of balance, it's severity and frequency would have a correlation with speed? Would be interested to hear the logic towards that.

When you say 'normal pulling' - what do you mean? Normal stopping distance only with a stutter, or that it pulls to one side or the other?

Does the stuttering change on regular versus hard stops?

Is this a violent 'stutter' such as if the ABS were activating? Or more of an annoyance?

In hopes of jogging memories - could you give us the vital specs of the truck -engine, tranny, trim package, etc?

Doesn't pull to one side or the other, just annoying not violent as with ABS but that has been suggested. If you slam on the brakes you don't notice any stutter. Don't even notice when you first brake, don't feel it threw the pedal either, just the last 2 foot before you stop. Tires have also been suggested, factory tires are 16" 255 and it has 16" 285's. I am going to run up to the interstate and see it I get anything notable at about 60 mph. It's a XLT,V6, automatic, short bed, 2 wheel drive, 112,000 miles, flareside. Best I can do, I'm a Harley girl not a motorhead.
