Best U-Joints to buy ?
I'm looking to replace the rear driveshaft u-joints, and looking to see what else if anything the brands you all are using, and the quality of their product.
By far, the best U-joints for Ford Trucks are Spicer. Of coarse, I am biased as a certified Spicer Driveline Tech?
The best way to acquire the correct Spicer u-joints is by calling you're local truck parts distributor listed in the Yellow Pages that handles Spicer driveline components.
For most of us F-150 owners that have aluminum driveshafts; be sure to insist and specify the "coated" u-joints for aluminum D/S's. The coated u-joints help protect you're driveshaft and other driveline components from Galvenic corrosion, which occurs when you adjoin aluminim and steel components together.
Remember, regular u-joints will fit in our aluminum driveshafts, but only the coated ones will give us the extra protection. To my knowledge, Spicer is the only one doing the coated u-joints. Also, I recommend replacing the u-joint retaining straps (they stretch when retorqued).
