Humming noise?????

Between 40 and 50mph, I hear a humming noise and I can not pin point the origin. It sounds as though it is coming from the rear???? Here's the interesting part. I only hear it when I apply constant and even pressure to the accelarater, and maintain constant speed. It goes away if I accelerate or take my foot off the gas. I have an 02 Screw with 45k, does anyone know what this sound is? Thanks for any input

I would like to know because my 98 with 100k miles is doing the exact thing to the letter. Only between 40-50mph. I got a price on swapping the rear ends today but would rather save the $900 if its something minor. I was told its probably pinion bearing.

no luck on the 4.10 siad he would have to send the 3.55 back in so I get free 3.55 said he would put the 4.10 in for 650 labor and about 349 for the gears yeah right but that was the problem

That's a very fair deal.
