Steering wheel noise

Searched high and low for a previous thread, but to no avail. My steering wheel squeeks/whines when I turn right sometimes. Not everytime, but i'd say 30%. It only makes the noise on the acutal turning not straightening back up. The noise is from the steering wheel itself, not under the hood. Any thoughts?

Feel your pain. I had the problem on my '98 and now my '03. Thought it was only a 97-03 problem but you have a '04, great not much hope for the future On my 2 trucks it seems to happen when temps are cooler and to me it sounds like maybe the shaft is rubbing on something plastic. On my '98 I put a new steering wheel on at about 80k and that helped alot. I know it was not the steering wheel that helped but the position on the shaft probably made the difference.

Got about 2 more months on my warranty, I guess I'll just bring it in for them to tell me nothing is wrong.
