engine missing

Please bear with me. I have a '98 F-150 with 197,000 miles. When engine is under load ie: going up hill I have some hesitation, which goes away if I apply a little gas. Have replaced the cat converters, fuel filter, idle air control, and
EGR regulator and sensor. Plugs and wire were replaced about 20,00o miles ago. Could the EGR valve be bad and if it is how do you get the damn thing of. Can't find any vacuum leaks either. I am at wits end.HELP.
Thanks

Follow the coolant trail - it can't get far on its own.

Engine is 4.6 with auto transmission. Had code for small evap emissions leak. Code hasn't returned but don't think computer recycled yet. Another thing, it doesn't start missing until engine gets real warm.

You need to get this fixed before you can look at other things. What is the exact code?

My other favorite reply to "Engine missing" threads is:

Code was P0442. Replaced line from service port that was brittle from engine heat and replaced gas cap. Engine light has not come on yet but not sure it has recycled. Beginning to think I have a plug that is fouled. Question-if leak is not fixed, would engine light come on before everything is cycled?
