i have a 2000 f150 5.4l scab, and was wondering what gear ratio i had in the differential, is there any way to find out? i bought it used and the dealer didn't know, can i run my vin anywhere to look it up?

I'd wonder about a dealer that doesn't know enough to be able to look at the door jamb sticker.........

 

Look at the tag on the axle.

 

Why? It's easier to look at the door jamb.......

 

Looking at the door jam you have to decode the code. Looking at the axle tag it gives you the factory setup.

Really 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.

It was probably bought from a used car lot, in which case the employees deal with all makes of cars. But if it was bought from a Ford dealer then yeah, they're pretty dumb.
