Fix for spun bearing race??

Ok, so I get my dana 44 axle knuckes spun, weld on the new spring pearches, and take it to have the new gears put int. The mechanic calls and says that my inner pinion bearing spun, resulting in a junk case. I am wondering if anyone has a fix to this, as I have too much time in this axle to just scrap it. It is a front axle, that will only get used seldomly. I am thinking that I could possibly add a little material and make a tight fit...... Any suggestions, positives, would be appreciated. I cannot accept defeat on this axle. Thanks.

Depending on how much material wore away you could use bearing mount or high strength retaining compound. these are a liquid that sets up between the race and the case and is very strong. I spun a wheel bearing race on my stang and this is how i fixed it. I work on Caterpillar equipment and we use these chemicals for alot of different purposes.

The better way to fix it would be to machine it. it can be welded up and machined back to spec but this would cost a few bucks.

Thanks for the input. After reading what you said, I have come accross Loctite's 660 Quick Metal. It is used for "repairing" pressed fit items. Has anyone used this?

Welding and machining is the right way to do it.

it may work but you are better off looking for a thicker compound for slip fit applications.
google Anaerobic Adhesives

I have used locktite 660 on a 600 horse electric motor running a amonia compressor for the bearing race years ago and it is still running today at 3600 RPM. 24 hours a day 340 days a year.
