Difference between 3.55 and 3.73

I have a 2006 Screw with tow package and 18in tires. I pull a 29' TT that weighs around 5400# empty.. I figure loaded up I am pulling around 7000#. Would it make any difference in how my truck pulls by changing out the gears in the rear end. I have the 3.55. And is that something easy to do myself? Thanks guys

Not worth it to go from 3.55 to 3.73 - you need to go to 4.10's or even lower. Changing the gears requires specialized tools and procedures, if you have a friend with the tools and experience that would help a lot.

Yes, 4.10's would make a noticeable difference, and with stock size tires that would be the best for towing without killing your unloaded highway economy. Without searching the forum, I'm guessing you are looking at around 800 to a grand to have it done professionally with new parts.
