Regear for 35's

Got some great advice here and I'm going with 7.5 fabtech lift and 315x70x16 tires. Once again I'm clueless. If I regear, any suggestions? 2002 supercrew, 5.4 , 2wd. I'm not interested in towing, just mpg. and performance back to normal after new tires. OR, would a tuner be money better spent? Thanks for any help.

alotta stuff comes into play here. Whats your current ratio? How do you use your truck? do you gun it from a stop? do you mud it? do you tow? The most common answer here is 4.56's as far as gears, and that is probably your best bet. At the same time depending on what kind of use your truck gets and what kind of performance you want out of it along with your budget, will decide the best outcome.

Im in the same boat and im probably gonna go gears, and then some sort of programmer for performance

4.10s. Those tires are slightly larger than 33s and 4.56s would be too much. With 4.10s and 34" tires you would very close to stock. If you do more city driving you may consider 4.30 though.

I had a similiar post. 4.10 is good all around gear since you don't tow. If your ever going to tow I would suggest 4.56. I have 35s on my truck and I tow a camper, I'm saving my pennies for 4.56. Maybe next year income tax check I'll get 4.56

Not sure of the present ratio. It would be mostly city driving, some mudding, and I'm sure he would be gunning it from stop. My priority is gas mileage, if there is some sort of happy medium. Thanks for the replies.

With heavy 35" tires expect about a 2mpg drop mainly in city driving. Lower gear's will help keep your engine more in the power band. I would see if 4.30 or 4.33 gears are available for your truck's rear end. Also a programmer wouldn't hurt either.

35's and 4.56's are a perfect combo.

4.10s aren't enough gear for 35s...do a search for loads of people who were very happy with 35s on 4.56 gears.

I ran 4.10s with 32-inch street tires, was a great combo and I had a blower.
