Question Help with clicking sound

My '97 f150 with the 4.6 has gotten worst with this ticking noise. It seems to come from the rear diff or the tranny maybe. I am unsure on the exact location. The sound is like a noise maker or maybe a ratchet being spun. I only hear this clicking to when i get heavy on the gas, maybe 3/4 to WOT. It will also do this in revesre if i try to go a bit fast. I have no clue what causes this noise but those are the only times i ever here it. Any ideas?

Check your U-joints. Usually they click when bad.

I agree. U-joints can make a lot of strange noises when going bad.

I just had the same thing on my 97 f150. As soon as I notice the clicking sound I also noticed a vibration at speeds over 60 mph. The clicking eventually went away but the vibration got worse. It got so bad that I didn't even want to drive it over 30 mph. I had the ujoints replaced on Friday and that was the problem.
