Just Purchased first 4x4 03 EXP.
I just purchased an 03 exp, my first 4x4 purchase. Before that i owned a 99 mustang. While owning the mustang i put a 4.10 gear in it for some fun and never had any trouble with it. After buying the exp, I found out that the guy who traded it in at the dealer actually works with me so he was telling me all about it. He told me he had to have the rear end fixed on it twice under warranty but wasn't sure of the specifics. My question is, if this would mess up on me, from what i have read, it's a clutch pack that goes out and takes out the ring and pinion with it. Would it be possible/worth it if this happends to switch it out with a mustangs rear end. It has IRS on the exp but a solid on the stang so i am assuming i would have to find one from a cobra.
I am just worried it's gonna bust on me, and I know the 4.10 ring and pinion I bought on my stang was virtually bullet proof and took some hard abuse with no problems, how can i get that kinda reliability in this expeditions rear end?
A second question I have is on the 4x4. I know you have to stop and go to neutral for 4x4 low but what if you want to go from 2wd to awd/4wh. Do you have to stop to do that as well?

On the 4x4 you need to change out the front gears to match the rear....... and the Mustang only weighed about half of the expy, making most rears "bullit proof". (although, if you had slicks on the 'Stang, it would be a different story..)
