Newbie with some Questions about 99 f150

I am currently looking at buying a 99 or 2000 f150 4x4 excab but i have a few questions for you guys before i buy.

1. Which motor is better all around for light towing and general driving the 4.6 of the 5.4?

2. What gears came in the 99 and 2000 f150's 3.55 or 3.73? and which is better? (3.73 i would assume)

3. What kind of gas mileage does the 5.4 pull and how does that compare to the 4.6? highway and city

#1. Both are good. I prefer the 5.4, and yes, I've had both.
#2. 3:55 are standard, and yes, 3:73 is better. And limited slip is better yet. You can tell by looking at the driver door sticker. (do a search to de-code).
#3. Only 1 or 2 mpg difference, depending on how you drive.

No one else has anything to say about the fuel economy on a 99 f150?
