For 2003 it was 3.55 L/S according to the window sticker options list for the FX4 package. That's not to say you couldn't get 3.73's or 4.10's but the standard was 3.55 L/S for 03.
Not sure what the new gen's are though..

I am looking at a 2002 dealer brochure (might be different for 2003 but I doubt it) and the FX4 only came in 3.55. Someone with an FX4 may speak up and say they have 3.73 and that would not surprise me. But looking at the brochure it clearly states you get 3.55 with FX4.
3.55 for FX4 does not make sense to me. I have a 2003 FX4 and mine is 3.55 and I wish I had 3.73 stock, but since I am going to change it will likely go 4.1 since I will be pulling at or over cap.
mine came with 3.73...17" rims....maybe thats why?
standard 16" rims thus 3.55 gears?
mines also s-crew not sure what diff would be reg cab,s/cab
and i believe if you ordered heavy duty (7700) package..you got 4.10`s,but i think it was for 4x2 onlys,,been awhile, but read it some where...

My fx4 has 3.73 gears. I think only way you can get 4.10s is with the king ranch. I was searching for 4.10 and found nothing. I was reading brochures and king ranch came with 4.10. When I purchased my truck I knew I was going to install 35" and tow a camper.

My 2003 Screw has 3.55 and that was the only option, at least for the FX4.
Here is a good link for VIN and axle code deciphering as well as some other code deciphering charts:

another good link for 2003 F150 specs is:
http://www.fordf150.net/specs/03f150.php
Looks like under the section TRAILER TOWING, only the 3.55 was available as stock for the Screw whether 2WD or 4WD, and appears that the 7700 towing package was not availabe on the 2003 Screw.
