Question 2wd conversion to 4wd?

I was wondering if it is possible to convert a 2 weel drive truck to a 4 weel drive truck and around how much would that cost? Any experiences.

Possible? Sure. Practical? Not really. Buy a four wheel drive truck if you really want one. Trying to convert a two wheel drive to four wheel drive is just an invitation for headaches and nightmares.

I'm sure it could be done. It would probally be cheaper to sell your current truck and buy a 4x4 one. Just my $.02 though.
Also what year truck do you have. Might make a diff in price.

Know a couple guys who have done it. The other post are correct in that it is alot of hassle and work and in reality not worth it. The people who I know who did it also did a SAS when they converted it so they were already doing custom fabrication so a simply buy and sell swap would not have helped much anyways.

They found wrecked 4x4's and had them delivered to the site of the transformation then just swapped over all the parts needed for 4wd operation

it would cost way more than you would want to spend, find a 4x4

I have a 2wd F150 and have though about doing a 4wd conversion. Really the only way I'd do it is if I was already doing a SAS swap. I'm really thinking about doing one, but it's still a few years off, I have a lot more to do to my truck before that.
