Can a 4.6 V8 smoke 33' tires with an LSD?

If yes, could you please let me know what gears and modifications you are using to create so much torque? Also, do you have a manual or automatic trasmission? I desperately need more take off for my F150 4x4 Lariat. It has a 4.6 V8 Auto with 3.55 Lsd and 33' mud terrains. Any help would be highly appreciated. Kindest regards!

Gears would probably be your best option. 4:10's would be a good choice. I can brake-tourqe my truck and burn them until tomorrow. But from a dead stop just jumping on it, depending on pavement type I might spin them 1-3 ft. I have the TP Igniton upgrade kit, BBK throttle Body, bored out plenum, Gison shorty headers, Magnalow Hi-flow cats, Borla cat back, TP Underdrives, AF1 intake, and XCAL2. I have an built Auto with a shift kit also. 3:55 gears...

I would like to agree with the first response. I have found the 4.6 to be a bit tepid in the power department. I think that ford could have tried a little harder to better the performance of the 4.6 when it came out and even on your vehicle.

If anyone here wanted your opinion about spinning tires they'd ask for it. As far as your response goes; are you still in HIGH SCHOOL? Your grammar looks to be at about a 9th grade level. I'm out of high school and I still enjoy being able to spin my tires when I want. That doesn't mean I go around to burnout contests, but yes I spin my tires occasionally. Anyway, I would just like to say this is why a lot of forums turn into pissing contests, because morons like you decide to respond to someone else's MODIFICATION question with your own opinionated ADVICE. We don't need nor do we want you here. Have a nice day...

Thank you for your advice and for supporting me with modman2k5's silly comment. I was annoyed and was actually thinking about sending him a reply and stating that I was still in high school but I am 43 years old and have been through the drag racing days and I just never seem to lost interest in this kind of fun. All of us have our own different hobbies and interests and I am glad that we have such a nice forum to share our ideas.

To get back on topic, I am thinking about 4.10s or 4.56s and I am currently waiting for a response from summit racing. They have some good deals going on their pinion sets. I'm also thinking of adding a set of shorty headers from summit as they are only $149.00 and this seems quite reasonable to me. Have been thinking about a small NOS kit too (75HP) and still checking in to the reliability factor regarding this mod. I appreciate your response and like the way your truck looks. That paint really shines Thanks again.

What kind of pulling power loss would you lose with 4.10's? I'd like to upgrade mine, but I still need to pull a light trailer every couple weeks.

You'll gain low end but loose top end. Fuel milage will suffer too

We shouldn't be too quick to say fuel mileage will suffer. 255 tires with 3.55 gears are close to 33s with 4.10 gears. The difference in revolutions per mile is about 120. The little difference in the gears will help offset the weight of the bigger tires. You might even gain mpg if you keep your right foot off the skinny pedal.

if i was u i would stay away from NOS, unless you plan on beafing up the rest of ur engine. im not sure if ur truck is a daily driving, but if it is, NOS will probably create alot of problems. but those 4:10s should deff. wake ur truck up

33 foot tires? I do not know of any truck with them. It be sweet to see a 4.6 smoke them!

You will never lose top-end even if you run 4.56 on stock tires. Overdrive is very tall on these trucks.

One member here has 28 or 29-inch tall tires on his built truck with 4.10s and while he can pull redline in top gear, he's going well over 150mph.

I went from 3.31 to 4.10 with 285/60R18 street tires, and did not notice a change in MPG.
Many others report minimal to no change as well when they go to shorter gears.

1999 Ext cab short bed 4x2 4.6 automatic with 3.55LS and 32"s could smoke em no problem. And that was with a toolbox full of junk. It was Edge'd, K&N, Flowmastered, and a TP Ignition system.
