trouble chaning u-joint

Im attempting to change the u-joints in my 99 f150 but seem to be having major trouble getting the factory bearing caps out. Could anyone tell me what the easiest way to do this is. Ive tried a c-clamp, vice, hammer & socket, im pretty much out of ideas.

After all the C-rings are out/off, set it on a SOLID surface (like the anvil of a big vise) with the yoke perfectly flat & hit the OTHER one straight down using light force & a BIG hammer. That should carry the U-joint cap down. Flip it & repeat for all 4 caps. Then clamp it in the vise or hang it over an edge & use a socket to drive them all the way out.

I used a Ball Joint Remover tool, kind of looks like a C-Clamp on Steroids.

I had to put a impact wrench on it for one joint, but it made the removal and install a breese.

Good Luck,
Doug
