mini spool?

Does anyone know anything about the reliability of mini spools. I am looking at using one to lock the front axle of my 4x4. I really like the price but I would rather spend the extra few hundred if the mini spool is going to break on me. I will be riding through mostly deep sand and mud.

Mini spool LOCKS both axles together at all times.

You would have to spin a wheel on EVERY TURN or break an axle, so I would advise against a spool.

I have been looking at the powertrax traction system (not gearless locker) for my front end. It is said to allow the front axle to slip when needed during turns and provide better traction when under power.

it would make the truck almost undrivable on the street, you would be fighting the steering wheel to make every turn. save your money and get a selectable locker like the ARB. good luck

Not necessarily all the time... just when the 4wd engages and the hubs lock. (The IWEs disconnect the wheels on the 04-ups)

Personally, I like the TruTrac for the front end... they work very well, and aren't anywhere near as harsh on the drivetrain as a full locker.

So the consensus is it would probably cause more wear than if I were to get a selectable locker...anybody hear anything about the Auburn ECTED. I wonder how much extra it would cost to have the shop install it since they would have to tap the axle housing and run a switch to my dash.

i retract my statement then, i forgot that the new body style had disconected hubs (still recomend a selectable locker)
