Question Detroit TrueTrack vs. Yukon DuraGrip

Any opinions between these two?

I've heard that both are WAY better than the other from several "credible sources". From what I can tell the Yukon uses clutches and likely isn't US made, (their gears are NOT, even the YK or YG prefixed gears whichever it is) and the Eaton unit uses gears and probably is US made, but Randy's tells me the Eaton wears as well, and isn't at all serviceable. I'm now wondering why they said that other than they push Yukon MAJORLY. Thanks!!!

Which Eaton? The TracLok? The Detroit TrueTrack is a torque-biasing diff, which is why it has no clutches. The Eaton TracLok is the stock limited-slip diff that has replaceable clutches. I've never heard of the DuraGrip, which tells me everything I need to know about it.

The TrueTrack. Know how it works in the real-world or what to expect? I thought the same about the DuraGrip, but some sites are saying it's superior somehow...I don't buy it.

I put several interesting links in this post, but I haven't checked them lately. You can read about the TrueTrack on the mfr's website.

The TruTrac is made by Eaton... Eaton owns Detroit Locker, remember? (I think we had that conversation a month ago or so LOL!)

The Duragrip appears to be very similar to the GM POSI in form and function, but fits the Ford axles. Also appears to be clutch-based, which means I'm not a fan.

Stick with the TruTrac IMHO. It's great if the vehicle is normally on the road... it's a torque biasing limited slip that actually limits the slip of the low-traction wheel. They are my personal favorite.

What is it about my post / topic that makes you guys think I don't realize that the TrueTrack is Detroit / Eaton?

I was responding to Steve's confusion asking about which 'Eaton' it was and an earlier post from a while back where he (I thought it was him) learned that the Detroit Locker nameplate was bought out by Eaton back at the beginning of '06. Sorry for the confusion....

BTW, Eaton warned me against using any synthetics with the TrueTrack on the phone this AM...

Yeah, I think it was me, but I didn't remember. It'll take a few times beating it in before it sticks.
