Exclamation door sticker reads code 19 tag reads 3L55

Are trac-lock and LS two different things. My door sticker reads code 19 for the rear end(open) and the actual tag on the cover reads 3L55 for limited slip.Going forward on cement i only get right wheel spin and only left wheel spin in reverse.Had a dealer tell me code 19 is trac-lock and 19h is LS.On compacted dirt both will spin but a lot less on the left side.
cheers

I would kindly insist the dealer clarify that one. Trac-Loc is Ford's version of limited slip. There is no other limited slip option. My '69 Bronco had trac-Loc in the 9" rear end.
One way to confirm if you have trac-loc is to raise both rear wheels off the ground and turn one by hand. If you have it they will both turn in the same direction. If you do not the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction. Wore out or not this method will say if a trac-Loc is in the third member or not.

Sounds like someone swapped rear axles, but the TracLoc that's in there now is worn out. The only way to know for sure is to pull the rear cover off. Click my signature link & look in the 8.8" axle album. It shows what to look for, & how to reseal the cover.

BTW
For Glenn's test to work, both wheels must be off the ground AND the trans must be in N.

Ditto.

The Trac-Loc is Ford's proprietary limited slip axle. 3L55 *should* designate that as a limited slip, but I've seen some that were tagged as such, but were still open. (IIRC, my Explorer is that way)

A 19 indicates that the truck was originally built with a 3.55 open rear diff. You could do the check mentioned above (which *could* be inconclusive), or you could pop the cover off the diff and see what's inside.

Where do you find the axle code on the door sticker?

Nevermind.. The SEARCH button is brilliant...
