Tie Rods

TIE rods, hey guys im instaling a lowering kit on my 06 f150 and it requires the rie rods to be trimmed. Are tie rods a big deal?? can i buy new ones if i dont trim them properly and i mess up the thread???????????

tie rods are what connect your steering box to your spindle yes they are very important, and i think they are 40 a side.

Still havent gotten that puppy lowered yet?

Nope now that im in to school I have a lot more free time and hope to have the rig lowered by the end of this week. Im gunna use the DJM kit for now any maybee buy the roush front shocks and springs down the road but im workin with wat i have for now i hope to be ridinn dirty by tomrow afternoon or the end of the week at the latest

There should be a locking nut on the tierod end. Run it up to the ball socket joint then cut the shaft to the required length. Then remove the nut. It will chase the threads while you are removing it. If you chamfer the end of the tierod it will also make reinstalling the nut easier and lessen the chance of cross threading.
