IFS binding.

97 f150 4.88 gears + powertraxx lockrites. i know thats not a good idea in the front for snow n such. problem is sometimes it binds up and i CAN NOT pull that steering wheel to the left. it is 100% hell bent for election to pull all the way to the right. i mean i am literally cranking my wheel as hard as i can and it will still pull that wheel out of my hand.

any ideas of whats not working as intended? my thought is maybe the paper clip thin retaining ring that richmond gear sends to hold the axle shaft inside the mechanical limited slip has broken. but i cant point my finger and figure out why if that was so, that it would bind up the steering when it is suppose to ratchet like it did on day 1?

Maybe the springs are worn out, or you installed the springs incorrectly. Check them out, and order a new set. It'll give you a chance to see how the diff is doing.

shouldnt be. it will jerk the wheels to the right until i stop and back up. then itll go for a while and bind up again.

i will watch n double check the brakes out back. its just scary when i tried to use it on icy roads and i wound up in the napa parkinglot when i was trying to go to the gas station on the other side of the road...

as for the springs, i will have to investigate that.

any more possibilities you guys wanna throw out for me to look for?

Sounds like something in the diff is putting all the power to one wheel. Open the diff and take a look.

oh here this might help you guys throw out another idea or 2.

stopped in neutral, shift into 4x4 and its fine for the most part as long as im just playing, still not safe on the ice / compact snow. wheels seem to jerk back and forth.

driving and shifting on the fly. jerks the wheel to the right.
