Joe,

Its all good, I didn't mean to come across impolitely to you either, thats the problem with reading text, there is no emotion or sarcasm so its hard to get a true idea of how people are really expressing their words

hsimpson-
What do you primarily use your truck for, and what kind of climate do you live in? Factory limited slips can easily be rebuilt with new clutches, unless you really want to go with a locker. A non selectable locker can be a handfull in slippery/icy road conditions as it will cause fishtailing in low traction situations rather than just letting one tire spin and one tire track down the road, this is also noticable with limited slips but to a lesser degree. I just depends on what you are trying to do with your truck.

The primary use of my truck is just driving around town. Every couple weeks some friends and i go through some mud and stuff, them more than me because they have 4wd. During summer i go camping a lot which involves going over a lot of rocks and a little mud here and there to get to the spots. Thats mainly what i use my truck for. I live in northern california. I called a 4wd shop today and they said they would service the L/S in my truck and put new oil and stuff in it for $130. Does that sound like a lot? Thanks for the help.

they said that they would change the oil in the back, check the posi to make sure that it isnt worn out, and something about some ford lubricant for something. Thats it. do you think that its worth the money?

I think that's just standard maintenance. I had mine done a while back along with some other things. It wasn't cheap by any means but if you want to get the most life out of your current set up I'd recommend having them change the fluid.

yeah, I was thinking 75K as well. It shouldn't need to be done to often.

The 'offocial' interval from Ford is never. It was filled with synthetic 75W-140 from the factory. As long as the axle hasn't been submerged, according to Ford, at least, there is no need to change the oil.

I've always done axle lubes at 100k whether it needs it or not, or anytime the axle gets dunked over the hubs.

Now to the next question.

Okay, so reading here has answered one of my questions...the factory LS on my 06 Screw 4x4 was pretty much useless when I got stuck in a rut yesterday and the drivers side rear tire was a foot off the the ground. I touched the gas and .....nothing but spin...the passenger side did nothing. The big question is, while my truck was resting firmly on the passenger side frame rail just behind the front passenger tire, niether of my front tires were turning over. It's as if my four wheel drive was not working at all. Both front tires were pretty much touching the ground and no matter how I turned the steering wheel, the only tire moving was the drivers rear tire. Is this caused by the t-case sending all the power to the tire with least resistance or ????
Luckily, a kind gentleman in a F350 Powerstroke came by and pulled me out. After I was un-stuck, and still wondering what went wrong with my front end, I pointed it up a steep hill in 2 wheel drive and stomped on it to bury the rear tires. Once I was dug in and not moving, I put it in 4x4 and immediately pulled myself right up the hill...what gives with the front end? When I needed it most, it wasnt pulling for me..
