i have a 2001 f150 extcab 4.6 4x4. in 4 wheel drive do front and back wheels both pull 50% or do the front pull more or the back and do i have a Chain-driven transfer case or do i have a Gear-driven transfer case

 

In 4x4 it is 50/50. It is gear-driven made by Borg-Warner, though I don't know the model #.

Ford hasn't used a gear driven transfer case since the late 70's...the old 205 model case. It was gear driven and had a cast iron case. Everything since then is made by Borg Warner or New Process and is an aluminium case and chain driven.

 

I stand corrected. Guess I had my stuff bassackwards.

Correct. The chain turns the gearset for the front driveshaft only. The rear driveshaft is driven straight off the transmission output shaft.
