Overdrive fuse

Pulled a load with my 2000 f150 4x4 this weekend with the overdrive off, all was well. Tried to cut it off again today and it blew the fuse and would not go off. I put in a 5amp mini fuse it worked at first and blew again. I tried a 10amp (all i had) and it worked fine. Tried it again once I got the truck up to speed and it blew that fuse. Were do I start the search.......

On my wife's 97 Expy the light wouldn't come on, and you couldn't turn off the overdrive. I took the shifter off and one of the wires had all of the insulation get melted off somehow, so I just ran new wires. They hooked up under the dash up above the brake pedal.

It is very common for the wires to chafe and either short to ground or complete open right where the shifter arm mounts to the column.

Look there first.

I checked and sure enough, the green wire for the gear shifter was rubbed through!
Praise the lord and pass the ammunition!

Fuse F29 in the under-dash fusebox.

Download an owner's mamual from www.fleet.ford.com under MAINTENANCE or pull the one out of your glovebox.

I want to say I heard of one also. I think it was just for the button itself, not the wiring though. I could research it, but I'm way too lazy for that.
