Question Gearing?

I have a 97 F150 EXT cab 4X4 that I recently installed larger wheels and tires.I found a program at 4LO.com that calculated what I needed to get my truck back to stock and it said I needed 3.88's.I have looked around and all I could find was either 3.73's or 4.10's and would like some suggestions on which ones to run.I went from 255/75/16 on 16X7 to 285/70/16 on 16X8's.

If you want better fuel mileage, go with the 3.73s if you want better acceleration go with the 4.10s
I installed 4.10s in my truck(see signature) and I love them. This is how the truck should be from Ford. Also, this mod cost me less than 1.5 mpg overall

Cool

Dawgwild,
I have to agree w/ jarrettruelz88, Go w/ the 4.10's I had OEM 3.55 gears and 235/75/16's and went to 4.10's and 265/75/16 I also needed the 3.88 gears. Don't do the job half *ss, You will not be dissappointed w/ the 4.10's!!! W/ my setup I have the option to go 3 tire sizes larger (295/57/16) this would bring me almost back to stock performance 4.098 ratio. The gears will run about $180.00, and approx $68.00 for the install kit, plus tax.
A local gear shop installed them for $250.00.
Good luck

Question

So anyone have any good estimates on swapping 4.10s in 4x4 truck?

The one shop I called said something about the IFS up front being time consuming and said $1,300-1,500 for 4.10/4.56's installed . * OOOUCHH*
