JMHO but 4 wheel drive would be better, unless your hauling *** down a straight away in 2 inches of mud, and are going for some sort of time record, otherwise make sure the locker comes with a tow strap.

well for what it is worth, and I am not trying to be a smart ***.
it is better than not having it. but you will still get stuck you just paid a bit more to get there. like I said unless the mud is not deep at all
make sure you have the gear you need to get out, straps, winch, ****** block etc etc..

well i was hangin out in the petersen's 4 wheel and offroad forum and they said that with lockers, some mud tires and a lift, a 2wd can go almost anywhere a 4wd can. i just wanted to check out and see wat u guys had to say. i went to buchanan's mudfest in STL, MO last weekend and people were out there in crown vics, i think i can take a little bit o' mud. please keep leaving feedback tho.

p.s. on the tow strap note, at mudfest a buddy and i were watching the tractor pull and the guy gave it slack and then floored it which of course snatched the tow strap which then preceded to fly through his back window and into the cab and break his passenger's arm...so ya

Seems like theres an awful lot of 2wd hating around here! I love my 2wd, got the underdog factor. A locker will deffinetly help you out though. Just think of like this, without any form of lsd your truly only 1wd, so when you prime drive wheel sinks, all you have is the "limp" drivers side. Lock em and Rock em!

i broke a front driveshaft one time in my jeep, took off the driveshaft it was early on in the trip so i said screw it i got a locker in the rear and kept right on mudding, i got stuck a few times but it went alot of places i never would have geused it would, now most times i leave my truck in two wheel drive in the mud, it will go just about everywere in two wheel, only in the real sloppy stuff would you need 4x4, but most definatly have someone there too pull you out when you do get stuck and have all the proper gear. good luck and have fun in that 4x2.
