HELP, PLEASE. I need your help !!!
Last night I went to pull a friends truck out of a deep mud pit. His truck was 200 feet into the trail but after 50 feet or so I could start the feel of the mud getting deeper and (slicker). So I put it in reverse and headed back to the "dry" land. Any way I almost made it! All I needed was 3 or 4 feet but my truck has had enough and decieded to STAY their. Keep in mind that the mud was 2 feet deep, i had mud equal to my door sill!!!
Another friend of mine pulled me out but I sort of spinned my truck alot. After getting out of that mud sink, I drove my truck out of the way and thats when the problems started.
My truck made terrible, just terrible noises. I thought I burned out something! I made it home (going 5 to 10 km) and took off the front wheels. I found mud jammed pack on my disk and calipers. I cleaned it out as much I could at that time (2:30 am). The noises where almost all gone. So after work the next day I took off my wheels again and tried to clean and find damn little rocks that where "grinding" my front disks. But their is still a noise it sounds like a rock as I mentioned earlier. Tomorrow I will take off my wheels yet again.
The thing is; My truck makes the noise, I think, more when I turn my wheel to go left. I'm starting to wonder if it REALLY is my brakes, could it be my (forgot what it is called) axle boot "whatever" between the wheel and the front differencial.
Does a busted "thing of ma jig" make a loud sqweek noise as if a brake pad was worn out?
The noise still continues when I press on the brakes but it is a little lower! I checked the boots and they are still like new!
PLEASE HELP! thanks

I would look and see if one of the wear tabs on the brake pads is bent, and rubbing something as if the pads were worn through. You know, the little tabs that are supposed to make horrible noises when your pads are almost worn out??? Just my
thoughts.... good luck.

eph1fifty: Have you pulled the rear drums yet? Sounds like debris in the brake drum housings, more than likely a rock in the right rear, judging from the noise on left turns. j.b.
you also may have damaged your CV boot. you mention that the noise is louder when you turn. That is a classic symptom. Check the boots they protect the ball jionts which allow your wheels to turn
Thanks for the help! But I took off my calipers to clean the mud/rocks. It turns out that my pads are finished and rotors a little warped. I was starting to fear the CV boot but after bending the warning bracket no more noises to be found. I will get new brakes (raybestos) and new rotors this week.
