Why won't my truck start?

I've had trouble starting my truck the past few days and I'm not sure what the problem could be? Basically whenever you put the key in the ignition and try starting the truck it acts like there isn't a key. You cannot turn the key forward or reverse.. Does this mean my ignition is bad? If anyone can chime in I'd appreciate it.

Turn your steering wheel to release the lock. If your wheels are turned to the left turn them further to the left. If they are turned to the right.........

Tried that and it didn't help.. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow and take it up to the shop and see what they say.

A friend of mine said it could be my tumbler.. Does that sound about right and how much money would I be looking at to fix it if that's the problem?
