Finding out the Gear Ratio for 97 F-150 and Compatibility
Hello,
Here are the numbers off of my 97 f-150 xlt. It's automatic, 2wd.
S 869B R
3L55 88 6F26
Could someone tell me how I would get the gear ratio, and what other models may have a compatible rear end?

3L55 - This indicates that you've got a limited slip (the L) axle, with a 3.55 axle ratio. An open 3.55 axle would just be "355," 3.73 would be "373," and so on.
88 - This is an 8.8" axle. "975" means it's a 9.75" axle, "80," for an 8" axle, etc.
6F26 - This is internal coding used to determine what plant that axle was built at and when.

6 = year
F = month (A=1, B=2 ..... there is no 'I' in the sequence)
26 = day of month
