Was friction modifier used in the fluid? I soak the clutch packs in modifier before install. then add a second bottle to the fluid. There also is a special tool to find the right selective shim for each clutch pack to make sure they are not set up, too tight.

yes the cluch pack was soaked and one bottle was added worked great for about 10000 km then it starts allover again. the ford service guys figure that its the inner housing. The hotter it gets out the louder it gets.

Make sure the latest clutch design was used. They were changed several times. I've also put in thinner selective washers so the clutches will slip easier on problematic diffs. Down side is the clutches slip easier. The cheap route would be change the fluid and put in another bottle of modifier or just add the modifier.

I will be towing a little bit with my chatter back there. How much of an issue would that be?
