Post 02 f150 over heating after Dove attack....

If I'm not being attacked by Robins, catching myself on fire, driving myself crazy with rattles and having bolts that hold the body onto the frame come loose on me, its another!

so now that I got that out of the way... let me tell you what the heck even happened today! Just amazing, just crazy!

so my Mounty is still at the dealer ripping my interior out to get to the bolts that hold the frame on, and they have me in a Ford Taurus. Well for work today I had to take a bunch of tools that would be to long to fit in a Taurus they gave me, so I took the 02 F150 we got to work today.

so I'm driving a long this morning on the highway for my hour drive into work traveling about 75mph and all of a sudden....BANG!!!!!!!!! Something hit the front end of the truck! All I saw was feathers flying all over the damn place, I thought it was a turkey or something by all the feathers. I pull over to the side of the highway take a look at what just hit me. I can't see all to much since it's a little dark out yet but I couldn't see the grill broken or anything, just a bunch of feathers stuck to the front end. so I continue my way into work which was another 5 mins down the road.

At break I walk to the parking lot to see the front end of the truck and all you see is blood all over the grill. I look inside the grill and I got the biggest Dove smashed into the radiator! I mean the hole front of the radiator had feathers all stuck on it, it was pretty sick.

so another guy and me took a stick and pocked the remaining parts of the dove out of the radiator and went onto work. On the way home from work, the damn truck starts to over heat! Engine light is flashing at me, but I got all the feathers out of the front of the radiator???

whys the truck over heating if the Dove is not stuck on it anymore??

Maybe the dove and robin are in cahoots...

(maybe its beak pocked a hole in the rad or the stick your buddy used did)

If it had happened the other day when you were on fire, you could have had roasted dove for lunch.

Good grief Matt! What in the world did you do to accumulate all of this bad karma How can so much stuff happen to such a young fellow

I think there are probably still a lot of feathers and crap stuck in the radiator. Reminds me of the time back in the 70's when I did a nice stoplight burnout with my 69 Olds Cutlass. I was looking back to check out the smoke cloud as I had my foot to the floor and hit some kind of goose. The cloud of feathers was even more impressive than the rubber smoke

Took me awhile to get all of the feathers and burnt goose flesh out of the headers. Man what a stinkin mess!

well, what I did was take a hose a little bit ago and hosed down the radiator. there was some feathers left, but nothing major that would make it over heat or anything? I have it idling in the driveway to see if it over heats again, but the check engine light is still on, but the temp gage now looks normal VS almost in the red zone for a short time coming home.

This is all I need, pick up my truck tomorrow from the dealership, and basically give them this F150 now for repairs! Pick one up, to only drop one more off! Those guys must love my business I give them. I can only imagine what they say about me when I leave the dealership For some reason I don't think I really want to know what they say. They all know me by first and last name, and even recognize my voice just over the phone before I say my name!
