Dana 44 Posi

I was wondering what is the best "bang for the buck" for a posi to fit the IFS Dana 44 in my 96 SuperCab XLT. I'll be mounting a plow to do the driveway at my new house next winter and would like to put posi's in booth of my diff's. I don't need anything fancy or expensive as I won't be offroading with this truck (I'm building a wood's buggy for that) I just want the added traction capability's for the snow. I can get handfuls of 8.8 posi's for free from my buddy's wrecking yard.....But I haven't seen any stock Dana 44 IFS posi's yet, did Ford even offer it as an option?

Ford did in fact offer a front limited-slip option on those trucks. My assigned truck at work is a '93 F150 4x4, 300 cid straight-six, 5 spd, and front and rear L/S. Great basic work truck. No one understands why, in the past couple of years, I always decline when my boss has offered to assign me a newer truck due to my seniority.

The locking/unlocking hubs on those models are partly what made front L/S practical. When locking hubs pretty much became history, so did front L/S, at least as far as original factory equipment.

Cool, so atleast I'm not looking in vain. He's got 2 late 90's trucks there now so I'll have a peak at those to see what's in them. No point in owning a 4x4 if it isn't a true 4x4 huh?

Depends on how late your late 90's trucks are. The 96 model year was the last year of locking/unlocking hubs and front L/S. With the 97 redesign, they went with the Center Axle Disconnect system, and the front L/S option was not offered anymore.
