** Drivetrain Slipping/Popping **

I have a 00 Expedition Eddie Bauer that has the 5.4 and is A4WD. Recently the vehicle has developed a kind of slipping feeling when I am under light acceleration. It doesn't matter what type of speed I am doing it will do it at about 30% throttle till about 70% and then it goes away till the vehicle shifts and lowers the rpms. It feels like power is being taken and then given back. Almost like something is slipping.

I have checked all the drive shafts and U-joints all seems fine. I had a leak on the transfer and I thought maybe the fluid could be the problem. The fluid was full, but I drained it and refilled it anyways. The fluid was a little dark and burnt, but not like I have seen in burnt trannies.

What should I check next to try to fix this problem. I am a broke military guy, so the more I troubleshoot/fix myself the better. BTW vehicle has 109,000 miles on it.

Thanks in advance for your help....

Check your transmission fluid level and condition. Might be your concern there. Also, was your transfer case overfilled. If so, you might have a bad seal between the trans and transfer case allowing tranny fluid to leak into the transfer case. Good luck!

I have checked the transmission fluid level. I will change it this weekend just to rule that out.. It has almost totally got better.. seems the fluid change in the transfer was what it needed.. Just took a few miles to get the clutches full of the new fluid.

I will update if it gets bad again... Thanks...
