Towing capability

I have a 95 Ford F-150, E40D transmission, 4.9L In-line six, 3.03 rear end. The "book" says I can tow up to 4,700 pounds. What, besides buying another truck, could I do to increase this towing capacity to say another 1,000 pounds?

For starters, try posting this under the "towing and hauling" section." Anyways, I'd try some helper springs or airbags, and look into a weight distributing hitch. And the gears that you have just aren't cutting it. I'd look into at least 3.55s, maybe 3.73s if you plan on towing a lot. And most importantly, BRAKES! Check your brakes on the truck and the trailer, and make sure they all function correctly.
