Post just a quick question

i have a 94 f150 XLT 2wd and an axle that is labled H9. I found a coding chart that labels this axle with the Limited Slip. Is this correct? If so, when I change to 35" meats (after 6" sus. and 3" body) and 4.10 gears will I be able to keep that LS or do I have to buy another "compatible" one to match the new gears? Any and ALL sugestions will be greatly appreciated!

cajunbuck,
You can tell if you have a ls in your rear by looking at the metal tag attached to the rear end cover. If there is a "L" in the second space it is a limited slip. You will see(for example)3L55 or 3L08 then you have a limited slip if you see 308 or 355 then it is an "open" rear end.

If your axle code, is a letter number combination, it IS a limited slip. The limmited slip, is built into the carrier(the part the ring gear is bolted to). You should be able to reuse this same carrier. However, if you really want traction, you should consider a locker. it gives you total lockup of the rearend, giving you more traction, and it won't wear out like the clutches in a limited slip

thanks guys for the replies! i went and checked that tag and sure enough it was labled 3L55! i did consider the full locker, but im not too keen on the clinking noise (my friend has one) and I do not plan on doing anything too serious....just some fun mud sliding
