Axle Size 2000 f-150 xlt, 5.4 ltr.

Does anyone know what size a 2000 f-150 xlt, 5.4 ltr rear axle is? I looked at the rear axle and i cant figure out what size it is. Some one told me it was a sterling 10.25, but i'm not sure. Can anyone help. 2WD.

all f150s with the 5.4 have the 9.75, the 4.2 and 4.6 have the 8.8. dont know about the new ones but that year will have the 9.75. theres also a tag on the diff cover. wipe the grease and mess off and it will say 9 75 and also the gear ratio and wither its open or not. L stands for limited slip and a space between the ratio numbers means its open. Good luck.

the sterling 10.25 was a possible but rare option.

if you look at your door jamb sticker you can decode it with this http://www.fordf150.net/howto/decode.php

The 10.25 was available on the F150 with the 7700 package. It basically was a heavy duty F150. These are really noticable because it has 7 lugs on the wheels instead of 5. They also have the F250's 4F100 tranny instead of the weaker 4R70W.
