thump thump

I was driving down a grid road hauling a load of 16 wood pallets on a utility trailer.I hit a hole in the road and right away I hear a continious thump thump.I unload the trailer and start to drive home which is about 15 miles. The thump thump slowly disappears.I get back in the city and can only slightly hear the noise when I turn right.Could I have nocked my drive shaft out of balance. The universal joints have less than 5000 kms on them. But they were purchased from part source.

I would take a hard look at the tires. You may have broken a belt in one of the tires. look for a bulge. it could be a wheel weight but not sure. If nothing else take it and have the wheels road force balanced. That would make it show up I would think.

Good luck.

tires

Yeh I'm starting to think it's the rear driver side tire.Took the truck for a ride to night and only heard the noise a couple of times.Real faint, really had to listen for it.When I hit the hole in the road it was thumping really loud inside the cab.Tonight I had the window rolled down and only heard it faintly a couple of times.Have to take it in and start with having that tire balanced
