ok so I checked the setup on 4wheel parts, I am not so put off now by my lift. It only 429 for both front and rear.

Then another couple to install them. So I am in. 4:56's here I come.

ok so I can get the Genuin gears for $444.00 out the door. Then they want 350 and axle to install them. That just seems a bit out of hand to me. 4wheelparts recomeneds that I put the Percision brand sets in. Tghey are about 100 more, not sure what the real difference is, the guy at 4wheel parts was just to cool to explain anything. Ya know it was one of those well thats what I would install if it was me cause they are the best.

The other issue I have with 4wheelparts is that the first time I called for the gears it was only $400.00 and change to get them installed both axles, but now its 350 each axle. has anyone had them installed and have any thoughts on the prices?

i keep on getting told to go with 4.56's with 35" tires to have a gearing similar to stock, except maybe a little lower gearing (more torque). know it doesnt help much but its another 2cents to think about.

Here's the math, if it helps:

Your old tires (265/70/17) were 31.6" tall, and your new tires are 33" tall. Therefore, your gear ratio changed from 3:73 to 3:57 when you put the tires on. A 3:90 rear(if there were such a thing) would put you back to stock. However, if you go to 35" tires, that would put your new ratio (with the 3:73 rear) at 3:37. That would be too tall even for daily driving. However, with 35's on it, you'd be at stock ratio with a 4:10 rear(4:13 to be exact). So, the question is, do you want to get back to stock ratios, or do you want to go lower?

Check Mark Medina's ratio clculator for the formulas:

I like that calculator it helped me make my decision for my future gears which will be 4.10's I was thinking 4.30 would be perfect but now I am thinking 4.10's will be just fine.

Ok So I got the 4;56's installed and its all good now. I love these gear sets. They work great, even spent the few extra buck for the better Mag-HITECH Diff cover. More fluid and magnetic dipstick.

I have a only put about 500 miles on them and I need to get about 1000 miles to break them in. Then I can start towing and find out the real benefit's.

I have to say that I have seen a big increase in gas mileage. up from 250 ish to about 320 ish. So that is a plus already, so I will keep everyone posted.
