another gear question

i have a 2000 f150 2wd/v6/5spd. i am planing on installing a 3 inch suspension lift, a 3 inch body lift, and 35's. also a k&n air filter, flowmater SI/DO exhaust, and a chip. my question is are 4.30:1 gears going to be ok or do i have to go with 4.10:1 gears. during the winter i tow a trailer with two 600# atv's every weekend and a 16' fiberglass bass boat on ocasion during the summer.

They don't make 4.30s for the 9.75 rear end. With 35s you should go for 4.56s anyway, especially if you want to slay some Dodges.

I think with the 4.2 he has the 8.8 rear end. If it was me i'd get 4.56's, 4.10 if you do alot of highway driving. I had the same truck as you except I had the auto and I put 4.10 in it. I had a 3 1/2 inch suspension lift and only 265/75/16 tires and the 4.10 were perfect. On the interstate at 70 it was only turning about 2200 rpm's. It's up to you but I'd would get 4.56's.

456???

I recently changed from 355 to 410 - wish I had 430's or lower - at 65-70 mph I tach about 3 hundred more RPMs.

I have a 98 F 150 2wd and have 315's with 4:56's. It's actually lower then stock gear and that ratio..

456???

dodge_slayer01
I just saw your last post, and my guess is that 35"ers and 456's would be a good combo with good low end and decent freeway rpm's..... and put you near my 410 / 30 1/2" which tachs about 300 - 400 rpm higher at 65 - 70 .............
Best to do more homework and use the advanced search feature here....... I'm sure it's been done and posted.................

with 35" tires 4.56 would put you about were you want to be about 100 rpm over stock, good luck
