Gas peddle hard to push at first
Gas peddle hard to push at first
Everyday when I get in my truck and start it for the first time and get ready to drive the gas peddle is hard to push down. I really have to put just a little force in the peddle to make it unstick when I first start it but after it goes in the throttle it won't do it again til the next morning. It is as if it is locked or frozen every morning when I first start it. I have no idea what is causing this or why so any information or thoughts would be most appreciated. My truck is a 2001 F150 XLT Supercab 7700 Series with a 5.4 V8. It does it in the cold and warm weather. Please help.
My 02 did that at first, then it became worse.
What it was is a brownish buildup in the throttle body. I purchased an aresol can of throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner). Then I removed the plastic cover on the throttle valve/body and then the hose clamp securing a rubber intake hose to the throttle body. I careflly removed the rubber hose and sprayed around the throttle plates and intake until the brown stuff was gone.
re-assemble in reverse order.
After startup, the check engine light came on. This was due to the throttle body cleaner. to correct, i disconnected the battery for a few minutes then reconnected. Check engine light is gone and so is the sticky throttle.
I hope your problem is as simple to remedy.
Good luck
