Red face Rear End Noise

Reading these posts does not give me much encouragement. My 02 F150 is going in for the 2nd ring/pinion replacement next week. The first replacement resulted in more noise than before the mod was done. Nutz!

2nd repair seemed to do the trick. It is much quieter. I just hope it lasts.

01 F150 4x4 Screw just got diagnosed with a bad rear diff and axle. It has 5.4L, 3.55 LS and 9.75 rear. It has 60,000 miles and shop is recommending entire rear end replacement. It has gone from hum to a distinct growl starting at 5mph. Trying to get the Ford zone rep to give me some help on the repair but no luck so far. Seems a complete replacement works over the long term better than the interim fixes. New to this, any thoughts are appreciated.

O K , my 2000 is at the dealer with the same thing (it sounds like) as mm43.
I've got the same power train in mine. This truck has 101,000. Went in for tires and asked about the noise.Called back and it was already torn down without my authorization Guess it needed fixing anyway..?
