My truck has an open diff and I want to make it ls. Will a unit from a Mustang work? If they're both 8.8, I assume it'll work. Has anyone done this before?

 

OEM Truck 8.8"ers have 31 splines. OEM Car 8.8"ers have 28 splines. In the AFTERMARKET, Mustangs commonly upgrade to 31 spline differentials and axles.

 

Thanks for the info. I looked at the sticker in the door jamb and it says my axle code is H9. A quick search tells me that it is in fact a 3.55 LS; I guess it just needs a rebuild. Seems weird that at less than 120,000 km's that it's as poor shape as it is. Anybody else have to rebuild theirs?
