engine swapping

I have a 93 F-150 Flareside with the I-6 300cc and a 5-speed trans XL 2wd stock truck. I bought this truck new and now find myself using it more on the work side than recreation. I was able to accquire a 87 F-250 4wd with a 351w in it, the engine only has 82k on it the trans is blown. Both vechicles are fuel injected can an engine swap be made using my 5-speed and what electronics/harnesses will I need to keep from my donor truck? Thanks for your time Todd.

you will need to buy a new flywheel for sure i think the bellhousing is the same the harness will need to be swapped from v-8 truck and computer so look at this and see if it looks basically same your 93 has 2 or 3 big connectors over on fenderwell that un hook engine from harness see if the v8 truck has this if it does unplug them and see if they look same if it does should just need to swap out from there to engine and pug new computer in. is the 6cyl engine bad? personally i think that 300 will out pull the 351w and get better mileage

Hi TNT460,
Thanks for the reply, why does the mass majority feel that the 300 I6 will pull butter than the 351w? Courently there is no problem with my 300 until I try to pull my 17' 1971 Prowler camper with it. I mean the truck pulls the camper but I would like the option of doing the speed limits, currently I can't pull over 45-50 MPH unless I'm going down hill but up hill I'm lucky if I can maintain 40MPH. This makes me feel like I'm going to get rearended buy someone. My demographics I.E. New England is not very flat in fact I'd say its mountainous, this is why I'm considering the swap.
